High school students should keep ORCA cards through 2023
Tacoma Public Schools students who have a free ORCA card from school can keep their current card and continue to use it through the summer and the 2022-23 school year. In addition, student ORCA cards can now be used for unlimited Pierce Transit bus use, not just to-and-from school. Incoming TPS freshman will receive cares when they start school in the fall.
Pierce Transit is in the process of changing its policy and procedures to implement a Free Youth Transit Fare program. Recently approved by the State legislature, this new program is a part of a statewide effort to provide free public transit for youth in most or all of Washington. More information about the Free Youth Transit Fare program will be released in the fall.
