Students can sprint, hurdle, and jump all they want at First Creek, Gray, Mason and Giaudrone middle schools, as the track and field improvements are now complete.

The turf fields and cinder tracks were replaced with synthetic turf field and rubberized track surfacing. Minor site grading and concrete site work was done as well.

This summer, work crews started the track and field improvements at Truman and Lincoln, allowing more schools to host their own track and field meets on their own fields.

When voters approved the 2020 construction bond, it included many smaller projects in addition to replacing or renovating eight aging neighborhood schools. The small projects include roof replacements, heating and ventilation upgrades, security updates, improvements to accessible spaces, and new playgrounds and fields. Many projects are now complete, while others are underway or in the planning stage. All of them improve safety and learning environments for students.
