Students entering middle school (except Bryant) and high school can get a leg up by attending Jump Start in August.

Jump Start helps students transition smoothly into the academic and social environment of a new school. It provides support in academics, social integration and the practical skills necessary for success in middle and high school.

During the half-day sessions, students will get help finding their classrooms, learning school routines and making connections with peers and teachers.

Jump Start details

• Meals will be provided
• School nurses will be on site
• Transportation will be provided from current elementary or middle school.

Incoming 6^th graders are automatically enrolled in Jump Start (except Bryant)

• Aug. 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Incoming 9^th graders at the five comprehensive high schools (Foss, Lincoln, Mt. Tahoma, Silas and Stadium) are automatically registered for Jump Start

• Aug. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Families of incoming 6^th and 9^th graders will receive “save the date” information soon in their email. Please complete the form in that email.

Tacoma Online, IDEA, SAMI and SOTA families will receive information specific to their schools.
